When will nominations open for books published in 2025?

Books published in 2025 will be eligible for the 2026 Gotham Book Prize. The nomination form for these books will open in summer 2025.

What is the eligibility criteria?

Eligible books need to be a full, published, book-length work of fiction or non-fiction that takes place in or focuses on New York City.

Books are eligible in the year they are published. This means that the winner of the 2026 Gotham Book Prize must have been published in 2025.

What’s required for the application?

The application requires the name of the book, author, publisher, publication date and why they think it should win the prize. The jury will request hard copies of each book that is selected as a finalist.
